This is a holiday super rich in history and tradition rooted back to commemorating the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. It was a wild time filled with biblical and miraculous events, like plagues designed to help them escape and the parting of the sea to help them across the Sinai towards refuge in Israel. It’s a story we reteach our children every year so they understand the magnitude of this pivotal time in our people’s history. What is also fun, is that because they did not have time to make the bread for the road trip, we don’t eat leavened flours.
It’s basically a gluten free experience for a whole week. Here are some staple items for holiday success!
